Dr. Mark Larson: Introductory to Spanish Course
At Ancient Paths, as our students pursue mastery of the language arts, we focus on a foundation of Latin grammatical study in the younger years. Our vision for the language program has always been to provide an expanded option for students as they get older and build upon a firm foundation. Upper academy students could have the option to apply what they have learned in our grammar school into either ancient languages like going deeper into (Latin or studying Koine Greek) or students could begin studying a modern Romance language. We are delighted to announce that in the 2025-2026 school year we will be offering an introductory Spanish course for upper academy students, 8th-12th grade. We are honored that Dr. Mark Larson has agreed to teach this course.
Dr. Larson has been a believer in Christ since the age of 10 and has sought to follow the Lord in the choices of education and work since then. Dr. Larson graduated with a BA in Bible and English in 1975, graduated with an MA in Spanish language and culture in 1977, graduated from OSU with a Phd in Spanish literature in 1992. He learned Spanish while serving in the US Navy in 1969 at the Defence Language school in Monterey, California and worked in the Navy for 4 years. He has taught in various Christian schools over the years: Pensacola Christian and College (2 years), Cedarville College (7 years), and Genoa Christian Academy (5 years). He has also taught at the Ohio State University in a variety of positions from 1988 to 1997, and at Columbus Academy for 20 years.
"As a semi-retired person, I am always interested in continuing the service of the Lord and His Kingdom in Spanish language teaching whenever possible."
